Senior product leaders in conversation

Where most senior product leaders stall.

It's rarely a skills problem. It's an altitude problem — and most senior product leaders eventually run into at least one of these three.

You're leading a strong team and shipping great product. But the gap between where you are and the CPO seat feels like more than a promotion — it feels like a different job entirely. Because it is.

You landed the role. Now the real challenge: leading transformation across the org, redesigning teams for the AI era, and keeping the executive coalition aligned through years of change. You need frameworks built for this, not just intuition.

The higher you go, the fewer peers who understand the specific challenges of product leadership. You want a network of CPOs who can give real feedback on real problems.

Get up to executive speed, fast

Battle-tested frameworks, refined across years of Fortune 500 transformations and hundreds of senior product leaders.

20 Senior leaders in your cohort
1:1 Networking opportunities

Taught by a world leader in product management

9 hours live with Melissa Perri — author of Escaping the Build Trap, former faculty at Harvard Business School, growth stage board member, and advisor to Fortune 500 product executives.

Practical with real-world case studies

Every lesson draws on real scenarios CPOs have faced — reorgs, leadership transitions, AI shifts, board pressure. You see the playbook applied, then step into the driver's seat to work through how you'd handle it yourself.

Mini-assignments tied to your real work

Apply every framework directly to a live challenge inside your current company. Bring it to the next session for peer review and feedback from the cohort.

A trusted cohort of 20 senior product leaders

Small by design. Hand-selected so every conversation is with a true peer — VPs, Heads of Product, and practicing CPOs in the same seat as you.

Flexible for working executives

3 hours of live sessions per month for 3 months, plus 5–10 hours of independent work. Built around the calendars of people running product orgs.

Access that doesn't end with the program

A full year of every Product Institute course, plus the alumni community of practicing CPOs to call on for the real questions long after the program wraps up.

"What I like about the CPO Accelerator is that it's not just an opportunity to learn with Melissa, but also access to a strong network of executive mentors and a broad spectrum of program alumni. The value gets bigger with time, not less."

The CPO Accelerator Curriculum

Designed for busy product leaders: Six live sessions for product executives leading transformation in an AI-accelerated world.

  • What leading product at executive level demands, and how it's fundamentally different from any role before it.
  • How the product executive role shifts across company stages — startup, growth, scale, and enterprise — and how to figure out where you fit best.
  • The most common ways product-led transformations stall, and how to stay ahead of them.
  • The new leadership muscles this role requires you to build.
  • What it really means to become part of the executive team, and how to operate alongside your CEO, CFO, and peers.
  • How to establish credibility quickly with your team, your peers, and the wider organization.
  • How a transformation mandate reshapes your domain and the org structure you need.
  • How to design teams for the speed transformation demands — size, shape, and reporting lines.
  • How the product executive's remit often grows beyond product management into adjacent functions — design, research, data, analytics — and what it takes to lead disciplines you didn't come up through.
  • How to hire and grow great product leaders.
  • Which product roles AI augments well, and which still demand human judgment.
  • What product management will actually look like in 2–5 years, and how to design your org ahead of that curve.
  • How to build hybrid human–AI squads and reskill your team as AI changes the day-to-day.
  • How to build a product strategy strong enough to anchor a transformation, and deploy it so teams can plan from it.
  • The cadence for revisiting strategy as the transformation unfolds and conditions change.
  • How to keep a complex organization aligned through competing priorities and uneven transformation readiness.
  • How to lead with clear intent, so teams act confidently and keep their autonomy.
  • Why AI raises the bar for strategic clarity, and how to write strategy both humans and AI can act on.
  • How to invest in the right AI capabilities and avoid a fragmented patchwork of tools.
  • How to build strategy specific enough to execute and adaptive enough to survive rapid change.
  • How Product Operations changes when your mandate is transformation.
  • How to build measurement systems that show whether the transformation is genuinely working.
  • The processes, tools, and governance that keep insights flowing across a siloed organization.
  • How AI can synthesize customer feedback, support, sales calls, and usage data into a continuous signal.
  • How to use AI to spot leading indicators earlier and shift your org from reactive to proactive.
  • The governance you need around AI-generated insights to keep human accountability in place.
  • How to build trust-based relationships with your CEO, GM, and executive peers that move the transformation forward.
  • How to communicate progress, risks, and needs to leaders who may have limited product context.
  • How to make the case for staying the course when timelines are long and pressure for short-term results is high.
  • How to raise hard truths about pace, resourcing, or org readiness in a way that builds executive confidence.
  • How to secure genuine executive alignment on the transformation strategy.
  • Who the most important partners are, and where the real leverage and resistance live.
  • How to bring along functions that are skeptical, under-resourced, or running on different timelines.
  • What a genuine cross-functional partnership looks like in a transformation context.
  • How to move an organization from siloed execution to shared ownership of outcomes.
  • How to balance transformation pace with bringing the broader organization along.

Frequently asked questions about the
CPO Accelerator Program

The program is designed for experienced product leaders at scaling technology companies. Typically Senior Directors, VPs, CPOs, or Heads of Product with 5+ years of product management experience and a team of PMs reporting into them. It's not designed for solo PMs at early-stage startups, individual contributors, or consultants.

The CPO program runs over 3 months and includes 9 hours of live sessions with Melissa Perri, real-world case studies from CPOs she's worked with, mini-assignments applied directly to your current role, a hand-selected cohort of up to 20 senior product leaders, and a full year of Product Institute course access plus the alumni community of practicing CPOs to call on long after the program wraps up.

We run cohorts periodically throughout the year, usually in September and February. Check the application page for upcoming dates.

The CPO Accelerator Program is a one-time fee of $5,000 USD. This includes the full 3-month live program, ongoing access to the alumni community of practicing CPOs and senior product leaders, and 1:1 networking opportunities. Community access continues long after the program ends.

Submit the short application form on this page. The admissions team reviews every application personally to make sure each cohort is the right mix of senior product leaders ready for the executive step. Most candidates hear back within 2 weeks on whether their application has been accepted. If accepted, you'll receive a payment link (credit card or invoice), with full payment due before the program begins.

All live sessions are recorded, so you can watch later if you can't attend in real time. Recordings stay available for 30 days. If the scheduled session times don't work for you at all, you can defer to a future cohort.

The program is built for scaling technology companies, not service companies or consulting firms. If you're looking for broader product management knowledge, Product Institute offers a range of self-paced courses that may be a better fit.
